Breast Lift (Mastopexy) Recovery: A Step-by-Step Guide
“In breast aesthetics my aim is a result that is proportionate to your body, natural-looking and balanced.”
General Recovery Timeline
Recovery progresses through the first days, the first 1-2 weeks, 6 weeks and the few months over which scars mature. The timeline varies by person; your surgeon’s instructions come first.
First Days
In the first days, swelling, bruising and tightness are normal. A supportive surgical bra is advised. Resting with the head and torso slightly elevated adds comfort.
First 1-2 Weeks and Return to Work
Most people return to light activity and desk work within 1-2 weeks. Heavy lifting and strenuous movements are avoided; a support bra is worn through the day.
Scar Care and Sensation Changes
Incision scars (anchor/lollipop/around the areola) fade over time; sun protection and the advised scar care matter. Temporary changes in nipple sensation can occur and usually improve over time.
Do’s and Don’ts
A support bra, sun protection, quitting smoking and following your surgeon’s advice support the process. Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting are not advised early.
Result and Support
As swelling subsides the lifted, firmer shape emerges; scars mature over months. For unusual pain, fever or discharge, contact our team; follow-up support is provided.
