Soprano Ice works in glide mode with continuous contact cooling. Instead of a few high-energy pulses, many lower-energy pulses are delivered while the handpiece moves across the skin. Heat builds gradually and spreads more evenly — which is felt as considerably more comfortable, particularly in sensitive areas.
How glide mode differs
Conventional systems deliver each pulse individually to one area at high energy. That works reliably but is felt as a distinct snap.
In glide mode the handpiece is moved across the skin while many pulses of lower individual energy are delivered. Target temperature is reached gradually rather than abruptly.
Because cooling runs continuously and simultaneously, the epidermis stays cool while heat acts at depth. This lowers both the sensation and the risk of irritation.

What the method does not change
With Soprano Ice too, only hairs in the active growth phase respond. Multiple sessions remain necessary; comfort does not alter the biology of the hair cycle.
Equally: without pigment in the hair, no laser works. For light, red or grey hair the result stays limited regardless of device.
And here too, the realistic goal is permanent hair reduction, not complete hair removal.
Frequently asked questions
Is Soprano Ice really low-pain?
It is felt as considerably more comfortable than single high-energy pulses, especially in sensitive areas. No laser treatment is pain-free; sensation is individual.
Is glide mode less effective?
No. Total energy is distributed across many pulses rather than delivered in a few. The goal — thermal damage to the follicle — is reached just as reliably, only gradually.
Do I still need multiple sessions?
Yes. Only hairs in the active growth phase respond, regardless of device. The number depends on area, hair structure and hormonal factors.
Is there downtime?
Usually not. Mild redness typically settles within hours. Sauna, hot baths and intense exercise are avoided for a few days.
Is it suitable for darker skin?
Continuous cooling protects the epidermis and widens the safety margin. For very dark skin (types V-VI), Nd:YAG remains the safe choice. This is clarified at consultation.
Does it work on light hair?
No. Without pigment in the hair there is no target for the energy — this applies to all systems, including Soprano Ice.
