The First 48 Hours
Swelling, mild bruising and tenderness around the eyes are normal. Cold application in the first 48 hours reduces swelling. Sleeping with the head elevated speeds resolution.
Week 1
Swelling and bruising peak this period. Sutures are usually removed days 5-7. Screen time is kept limited and contact lens use is delayed at least 2 weeks.
Makeup and Return to Social Life
Most patients return to social life with light concealer at days 7-10 after suture removal. Eye makeup is recommended after day 14.
Sports and Activity
Light walking is free after week 1. Heavy sports, swimming and sauna are postponed 3-4 weeks. Positions involving bending are avoided the first 2 weeks.
Eye Care Protocol
Doctor-prescribed eye drops/creams are used regularly. Sunglasses are recommended for 4-6 weeks; critical for scar protection and sensitivity.
Final Result
All swelling resolves in 4-6 weeks. Inner/outer lid scars sit in the crease line and become almost invisible in 3-6 months.
