Sapphire FUE
Hair Transplant

“In hair transplantation naturalness is everything; we design an undetectable, natural hairline suited to your hair-exit angle and facial line.”

— Op. Dr. Selman Taşkın · Specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery

Sapphire FUE is a modern FUE technique where the channels are opened with sapphire (gemstone) blades instead of steel slits. Finer, smoother channels allow denser placement, less tissue trauma and a tendency to faster healing. For an overview of the technique see our hair transplant page, and for a method comparison see our FUE vs DHI guide.

Sapphire FUE vs Classic FUE — Comparison

Sapphire FUE improves the channel-opening step of classic FUE with sapphire tips. The key differences are summarised below.

The comparison is for general information; the technique is chosen individually by hair type, loss pattern and donor structure.

Benefits of Sapphire FUE

  • Finer, smoother channels with a sapphire blade; more precise opening.
  • Ability to place grafts more densely for a full, natural look.
  • Less tissue trauma and swelling; a tendency to faster healing.
  • Sharp angle and direction control for a natural hairline.
  • The sapphire tip doesn't conduct heat and is smooth; donor and recipient areas are protected.

Who Is It For? (Including Women)

  • Those with male-pattern loss who want a dense, natural hairline.
  • People with a sufficient donor (nape) area and a reasonably settled pattern of loss.
  • It is performed in women too with a suitable donor and correct indication; the cause of loss is assessed first.
  • For those who want a transplant without fully shaving, it can be planned with a shaveless technique or DHI.
  • Suitable cases needing densification (placing among existing hair).

Sapphire FUE — Frequently Asked Questions

Sapphire FUE is a FUE technique where the channels for the grafts are opened with sapphire (gemstone) blades instead of steel slits, aiming for finer, smoother channels.
The key difference is in channel opening: sapphire tips create finer, smoother and more precise channels, which can allow denser placement, less tissue trauma and a tendency to faster healing.
Both are modern, effective techniques; Sapphire FUE highlights channel-opening quality, while DHI does opening + placement in one step. The right choice is individual — see our FUE vs DHI page for details.
The procedure is done under local anaesthesia; no pain is expected during it. Mild tenderness afterwards is managed with simple painkillers.
Due to finer channels and less tissue trauma, the healing and scabbing process is expected to be more comfortable; still, the overall recovery course is similar to FUE.
Yes; with a suitable donor and correct indication it is performed in women too. For a transplant without shaving, it can be considered with a shaveless technique or DHI.
In suitable cases a transplant without fully shaving can be planned; suitability is clarified at assessment based on donor structure and the target graft count.
It depends on the size of the area and the target density; the exact number is determined individually with a scalp analysis.
Cost depends on graft count and the plan. For indicative prices and a country comparison, see our hair transplant cost guide.
After shock shedding, permanent growth starts at 3-4 months; noticeable density at 6-9 months, with the full result settling at 10-12 months.
Sapphire FUE Hair Transplant and all aesthetic and surgical procedures are planned and personally performed by Op. Dr. Selman Taşkın, Specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. Healthy follicles taken from the nape are placed into micro-channels in FUE, or implanted directly with a special pen in DHI; we choose the most suitable technique for your hairline and needs.
Because the follicles are taken from the shedding-resistant nape, they are permanent and last for life; they grow like natural hair and can be cut.
Crusts in the recipient area fall off in 7–10 days and redness settles within a few days; most people return to daily life in 2–3 days.
Transplanted hairs shed in the first weeks (shock loss), then permanent growth begins; most of the result is clear at 6 months and complete at 12 months.
The procedure is done under local anaesthesia so you feel no pain during placement; mild tenderness afterwards eases with simple painkillers.
In FUE and DHI the follicles are taken one by one, so there is no stitch or linear scar; it is unnoticeable even with short hair.
Temporary shedding of transplanted and sometimes surrounding hairs is normal and expected; the follicles stay in place and regrow permanently within a few months.
Yes; in women with a suitable donor area and a hair-loss pattern amenable to transplantation it is performed successfully, and we assess each case individually.
People with sufficient, healthy nape (donor) hair whose hair loss has stabilised to a certain level are the most suitable candidates; we confirm suitability at the examination.
